Truck-Mounted Cranes for Sale & Rent
Truck-mounted cranes place a crane superstructure on a road-going truck chassis, so the machine drives at highway speed like a lorry and needs no separate transport. They set up quickly on outriggers and are popular for utility, sign, precast and general contractor work where fast road travel between short jobs matters more than off-road ability.
They range from small commercial-chassis mounts to large dedicated truck cranes over 100 tonnes. Tadano, Liebherr and Manitowoc/Grove are common makers. Buyers weigh capacity and boom length against chassis condition, axle configuration and road-legal weight.

Frequently asked questions
Truck crane vs all-terrain crane?
Truck cranes prioritise fast on-road travel and lower cost and are best on firm, prepared ground; all-terrains add all-wheel drive and steer for off-road work and rougher sites. For pure road-to-site jobs on good ground, a truck crane is often the more economical choice.
Do truck-mounted cranes need outriggers?
Yes — they lift on deployed outriggers to stabilise the truck chassis. They are not designed to pick and carry like a crawler.
What licence does a truck crane need?
Like any heavy goods vehicle it needs the appropriate HGV/category licence, and larger machines may need movement permits. Exact requirements vary by country.
What should I check on a used truck crane?
Both the crane (boom, winch, hydraulics, safety systems, hours) and the truck chassis (mileage, engine, brakes, roadworthiness). It is effectively two machines in one.
